Basilisk Knight Guide (Recommended For New Players)

Recommended Posts

Background:

This guide will outline the basics required to kill basilisk knight's, including locations, gear set-ups, drop tables and other important pieces of information.
I have completed the basilisk knight log myself and have over 2,000+ kill count on these bad boys.

Information:

60 slayer is needed to kill basilisk knight's.
I would highly recommend new players to tackle basilisk knight's as soon as possible for early, easy money.
Basilisk knight's are semi-afkable as they are aggressive and should be safe spotted, however the more afk you are, the less money you will make as peak gp p/h requires you to collect coins after each kill.
These are not always available, during peak server times it can be difficult to find a spot so it's advised to kill these on downtime or during quiet periods.
If you are an iron-man or not a maxed account, 43 prayer is recommended as you will need Protect from Magic.

Make sure to have auto-retaliate on!

Position camera North and run South-West, following the red line (begin praying Protect from Magic now)

Spots:

Minimap reference of the 3 most common spots, see below.

image.png.5c0ea8ddba1e78bf789309c1b60e4b25.png

The first spot, commonly flooded with players however contains four basilisk knight spawns. If there are more than four players here, try another spot.

image.png.bef8224206dbd2307c9417abfc086538.png

Second spot, the amount of basilisks here varies as they spawn in the open area behind it, however 2-3 is the common rate.

Third spot, again varies as you're competing with spawns against second spot, however 2-3 is the common rate.

Fourth spot, similar to third spot but this body of water can be used as an entire safespot.

These items will be dropped according to their respective drop rate.
It is highly recommended to pick up the coins after each kill for maximum gp p/h.
The rarest drop is the basilisk jaw which currently sells for approximately 300M.

Tips & Tricks:

- Pray Protect from Melee when looting items to prevent taking damage.
- Collect ALL loot to sell at trading post, found at ::home for maximum gp p/h.
- Obtain Ring of Wealth (i) as soon as possible to increase drop rates.
- Avoid doing basilisk knight's during peak server times for optimum efficiency.
- Use pre-saved gear sets (ctrl G) to save time banking.

FAQ:

Q: Why bring food if we're safe-spotting and using Protect from Magic?
A: You don't need to bring food, but I didn't always flick Protect from Melee on to loot so I took melee damage. Also good if your prayer drains if you're not paying attention.

Q: Are the gear sets you recommended interchangeable?
A: Absolutely, you can bring whatever mage gear you want/can afford, just ensure you have a mirror shield.

Q: What is the average gp p/h?
A: Completely depends on your gear, if you're looting, what drops you get and how crowded it is. Worst case scenario I'd guess around 10-15M per hour but that is VERY low and highly unlikely, 50m per hour is a fair rate if you factor in chests with welfare gear.

Q: Can I use melee?
A: You can, but it is highly recommended not to as they change attack styles and it is VERY slow.

Q: I don't have 60 Slayer, how do I level it?
A: There are plenty of guides around on the forums, I will not address this here as it is outside the scope of the guide.

Q: Where can I imbue my ring of wealth?
A: It can be imbued for 25M using the enchanted jewellery box at ::home.

I needed this guide when I started, definitely forgot to bring a mirror shield and had to go through a lot of trouble with potions. Overall, a solid guide that has pretty much everything you need to know to properly farm basilisk knights. Good job.
